Slowly but surely potholes are disappearing from the National Sports Center.
Contractors are currently working to grade an access road north and south across the NSC, connecting 105th and 109th Avenues NE. The grading is in preparation for the laying of asphalt on this road. At the south end, the road connects to a roundabout on 105th Ave. NE. The north end is a right-in, right-out access point on 109th. The road provides access to parking lots F and G on the north side of the NSC campus. These lots are the main parking sites for the N and P field blocks, as well as other fields on the NSC north campus.
Anoka County and the City of Blaine are sharing the cost of the paving project. The immediate need for the project is to upgrade parking access for the 3M Open PGA golf tournament July 1-7, but NSC customers, including those attending USA CUP, July 12-20, will be able to take advantage of the improvements as well.
In addition to the road paving, three gravel parking lots on the north side have been smoothed and packed. They will not be paved at this point, but the surface will be much improved.
The paving project should be completed by the end of May.
