Recently, the KFAN producer has established her own voice as an on-air host for Cities 97.1 and takes pride in contributing to KFAN’s The Power Trip and Overtime with Carly Zucker. Brianne also co-hosts the Fan Gals Podcast with Kelly Kix. While her path to success wasn’t traditional, by saying “yes” to as many opportunities possible, Brianne’s worked with the nation’s top sports radio professionals.
“I didn’t finish college…an internship got my foot into the door here at iHeartMedia-Twin Cities. And just by a roundabout… always saying “yes” kind of attitude, I somehow worked myself up into the good graces with management here at The Fan (KFAN), and they needed someone. I took it as an opportunity and said, “yes of course.” It was quite the learning curve.
“My advice would be just to say yes. Always say yes. Also, never give up on yourself. You’re always capable, and you can always figure it out. Treat the day kind of like it’s a game, and you want to win.
Don’t ever get too committed to what you think you’re dreams are at 18 or 16 because mine definitely weren’t that. I never had any idea how to do this, and I love it so much. I found what I was looking for with the other dreams that I thought I wanted to do. What’s supposed to happen and what you do the best will find you.”
“My attitude, even from the beginning when it was really hard is that I wanted to stick with it and not give up because If I’m going to do this, I wanted to work with the best in the business. I want to work for the best. So, I take a lot of pride in that even though I’m not the most elite sports mind, that I’m working with some of the best commentators in the business. Whatever you do, take a lot of pride in it.”
“It is nice to see the concerted effort to be more inclusive. Women are fans, and women do have points to make and things to be said that are valid and interesting. Why wouldn’t you want a different perspective? I’m really optimistic as to where it’s going.”
