NSC All American Cup drew more than 400 teams to the National Sports Center campus last weekend. Since the Women’s World Cup (WWC) began Saturday, June 7, NSC staff projected a live stream of matches in the Welcome Center for All American Cup participants to watch in between games. Our staff was curious about WWC player ranks among All American Cup teams, so we asked some players what they had to say about the subject.
Alex Morgan- “She’s my favorite USWNT player because she’s a good role model and a good all-around player.” -Nathan Yee Yick, White Bear U11
Megan Rapinoe- “I like her hair, and she’s a good teammate that spreads the ball well. I’ll give Carli Lloyd honorable mention because she had a pretty sick championship game during the last World Cup with the hat trick.” -Rhys Cameron, Grand Rapids U17
Tobin Heath and Carli Lloyd- “I like Tobin because she’s a good goal scorer. She’s also my favorite all-time soccer player, but Carli Lloyd is close, too. I remember when (Lloyd) scored from mid-field during the last World Cup. I didn’t know what to say when it happened.” -Kayla Shoultz, Fusion Premier U17
Tobin Heath- “She’s really crafty with the ball and super skilled. I actually went to the 2015 World Cup in Canada. I watched the U.S. play Sweden. The stadium was really cool, and it wasn’t what I expected it to be. The stadium was so big. Megan Rapinoe has the best style on the team, though.” -Sierra Swallen, NSSA U13
Alex Morgan- “She’s super fast and plays aggressively. She makes the team fun to watch.” -Gabriel Albornoz, St. Paul Blackhawks U15
Rose Lavelle- “She defends really well. She’s good on the ball and sees the field well. She adds a dynamic to the team that we haven’t had in a while. My favorite all-time player is Michelle Akers. I’m old-school, but she’s probably my all-time favorite.” -Jessica Mueller, Fusion U13 Coach
Megan Rapinoe- “She controls the ball well and plays well offensively. I think the USWNT will do pretty good this year, and I hope they win it all again.” -Ellery Winterbotton, Fusion Premier U17
Carli Lloyd– “She’s passionate about the sport and she’s passive-aggressive, both on and off the ball. She’s fast, strong and aggressive.” -Adam Arredondo, St. Paul Blackhawks U15
