Affiliates of the National Sports Center Foundation (NSC) are proud to participate in two nonprofit fundraising initiatives, #GiveAtHomeMN and #GivingTuesdayNow.
Since mid-March, the GiveMN.org team has been supporting nonprofits through the COVID-19 crisis through fundraising coaching and the GiveMN.org platform. #GiveAtHomeMN is a virtual fundraising event taking place May 1-8 for nonprofits and schools across Minnesota.
Similarly, #GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. This new day is organized by GivingTuesday and is an opportunity for people around the world to stand together in unity to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and heal.
In tandem with GivingTuesdayNow, Nonprofit Hub, Do More Good and Firespring have established a Matching-Fund Initiative to unite and heal communities. The matching-fund initiative will take place May 5-26. A global threat like COVID-19 affects more than just the infected. This pandemic touches every person on the planet, and now is the time to come together and rise up as one powerful force.
In celebration of these initiatives, the National Sports Center encourages the public to participate in the #TicTacToeChallenge, a fun way to encourage both fundraising events on social media and ultimately raise money for the NSC.
To participate in the #TicTacToeChallenge, post a video on social media juggling any type of object used in any sport with the hashtag, and nominate three new people to complete the challenge or donate $10 to the NSC GiveAtHomeMN or GivingTuesdayNow initiatives. Participants are also encouraged to use the hashtags #GiveAtHomeMN and #GivingTuesdayNow.
Where do donations go?
All donations go back into the organization through NSC Fund For Play, the contribution and donation arm of the National Sports Center Foundation. Fund For Play is dedicated to improving the lives of Minnesota residents and all communities that the NSC reaches. Through youth sports scholarships, campus improvements and creating physical literacy, Fund for Play is an initiative that drives positive programs on campus despite this trying time.
$15 provides three athletes with an hour of open field time for training or free play. $50 provides a child of our community a scholarship to participate in a weekend tournament. $100 provides a safe and maintained field space for teams to practice on seasonally. $350 covers the fee of a week-long sport camp experience.
Thank you for all your support throughout the years. The National Sports Center is looking forward to slowly reopening again.
