Earlier this month, the Minnesota Wild and EVERFI hosted STEM Day at the NSC Super Rink as part of the Future Goals initiative. The initiative focuses on promoting STEM through sports and provides STEM education to K-12 students.
Bella Iverson, the Wild’s Community Relations Coordinator, detailed highlights from the event:
“We had about 70 students from Moreland Arts and Science Magnet School arrive very excited to apply their STEM topics to the stations we had for them. The favorite was the Zamboni station as they learned about the different parts of the Zamboni and how they can make the ice into different surfaces. They also really enjoyed the Equipped to Play station as Dave quizzed them on what old goalie pads used to be made out of. One kid knew the answer right away and shocked Dave, I asked the kiddo how he knew that and he simply said ‘EverFi’. It was a really cute moment and he won a signed Gustavson goalie photo for knowing the answer.”
