Marshall “Turbo” Bader, 9, of Boy River, Minn., was killed in a farming accident last Sunday, Jan. 19. Marshall loved playing hockey and was a part of the squirt A hockey team in Grand Rapids.
Since the accident, #LaterBader and #SticksOutforMarshall, along with photos of hockey sticks displayed outside, have been trending on social media to show support for the Bader family and Grand Rapids community.
This weekend, Youth Hockey Hub’s Squirtacular Squirt A (Platinum and Gold) and Squirt B (Silver and Bronze) tournament takes place at the Super Rink Jan. 23-26. To honor Marshall and send condolences to the Bader family and friends, the National Sports Center is encouraging all Squirtacular participants, along with anyone visiting the Super Rink, to sign a banner that will be given to the family at the conclusion of the tournament. The banner is located on the second level of the Super Rink, close to the large windows.
If you’re looking for another way to express your condolences, supporters have also been leaving messages on the Grand Rapids Amateur Hockey Association Facebook page.
