We know that many Blaine and Anoka County residents are new to the area. After all, Blaine is one of the fastest-growing Minnesota cities. And if you’re new to the Blaine community, perhaps you haven’t had the opportunity to explore all that the National Sports Center (NSC) has to offer – all our sports programs, facilities, and fun activities for kids of all ages.
So let’s remedy that, neighbor! We’d like to extend a special invitation to come and check the NSC out. We’ve even organized a free Open House on Friday night, June 7. We’d love to see you and your family here in person!
We’ll have all sorts of activities for families from 5:30-11 pm. You’ll be able to check out the NSC’s facilities, try out some sports, learn about our programs and have fun. The night will end with an outdoor movie — “How to Train Your Dragon” at 9 p.m.
Here is the schedule:
Check in at the Welcome Center starting at 5:30 pm. Pick up your passport for the Open House activities.
Golf from 5:30-9 pm. Drive, chip and putt at Victory Links. Fun contests and games for kids. Free green fees, cart fees, driving range and putting course rounds.
Soccer from 5:30-9 pm. The NSC’s partner, Blaine Soccer Club, will guide kids through basic drills and games.
Public Skating from 5:30-6:15 pm at the Super Rink. Bring your own skates or pick up free rental skates.
Hockey Skills from 6:30-7 pm at the Herb Brooks Training Center at the Super Rink. Athletes can test their off-ice ability through an agility course, shot speed, and stickhandling challenge.
Free Showing of “How to Train Your Dragon,” starting at 9 pm on the hillside adjacent to the Victory Links Clubhouse. Bring your own blanket or chair and enjoy free popcorn. Other concession items will be available for purchase.
If any of this sounds fun, please stop by and visit!
