USA CUP volunteers touch every aspect of the event including (but definitely not limited to) field services, activities, the opening ceremony, awards, scheduling and referee management.
A handful of USA CUP volunteers have helped put on the historic soccer tournament numerous years in a row. For example, 60-year-old volunteer Mike Rolfes has helped at every single USA CUP except for the first year.
Volunteers dedicate time to USA CUP for multiple reasons. As Mike puts it, some get gratification from representing their hometowns within the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
While a large amount of volunteers hail from Minnesota, many come from across the world to give a helping hand. USA CUP Transportation Manager Timon travels all the way from the Netherlands each year to play his part. Similarly, Garry, long-time photo volunteer, lives in Winnipeg, Canada and makes the long trek to take exclusive photos at the event.
Volunteering at USA CUP is a rewarding experience. Everyone involved in the event walks away with a lifetime of memories and an abundance of new friends from across the globe.
