Two teams, ages U11 and U13, from Street Dreams Soccer Academy are attending 2021 Target USA CUP. The academy hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and this year’s tournament will be its first trip to Target USA CUP.
Co-founder and Head Coach Cesar Castillo, says the team is most looking forward to “the holistic approach that Target USA CUP takes on soccer.” Castillo also says his players are excited to compete against teams from all over the United States. The 34 traveling players are looking forward to “exchanging pins and building connections with different people.”
Although Street Dreams Soccer Academy hasn’t competed in a USA CUP until this year, Castillo is a former tournament participant himself. “As a former participant of USA CUP, I know the impact the tournament had on my life first hand,” says Castillo. “Bonds were built with people from all over the world, I still have most of the pins I traded for, and the icing on the cake was to be able to do what we love, play soccer. The mission of our club is to provide youth who are in underserved communities these opportunities at a very low cost. We take a holistic approach to soccer that includes trauma informed coaching, community service, discussions about race and equity, and mental health awareness. We believe this is a great opportunity for our U11 and U13 boys and would love to make this a yearly trip as we expand our club.”
Welcome to the Target USA CUP family, Street Dreams Soccer Academy.
