Emphasizing the international flavor of USA CUP has always been a top priority of all of us at the National Sports Center. In past years, we asked teams to send us videos from around the world. In these videos, we instructed teams to state where they come from and then kick a soccer ball left or right, as if to pass to someone offscreen. Once we collected enough videos, we spliced them together to create a loop. This made it seem like one soccer ball was traveling from team to team around the world. Here’s how our final video turned out last year:
This year, we want to do something similar, but with a new twist. We’ve recently introduced our new inclusivity initiative and diversity campaign, Play 4 All, and because athletes from all over the world and all walks of life play in USA CUP, we want this year’s video to more specifically focus on this.
The Play 4 All initiative is guided by the following 4 principles that influence campus culture, new event programming and event objectives:
- Opportunity
- Inclusion
- Respect
- Teamwork
We’re asking a few members of each team to state where they are from and then what Play 4 All means to them. (i.e. Why is Play 4 All important? Do any of the 4 principles stick out to the them? Your team can get creative with this response)
Please email videos to [email protected] AND share on social media using the hashtag #Play4All. Leading up to the tournament, we plan to share our favorites via social media, and we will have a final video unveiling closer to the tournament. In your email, make sure to include your team’s age group and club name. If your team has any social media handles, include those as well.
