Reasons you should volunteer at USA CUP

"USA CUP is hands down the best way to find so many different cultures, backgrounds and age groups united over the common denominator of soccer. Volunteering at USA CUP has enabled me to talk with teams and referees from all over the world and that experience is what keeps me coming back year after year. My favorite thing about volunteering is the early morning treks to whichever field I’m assigned to as a field manager. Setting up corner flags during misty dawn mornings, signing in the referees for their assigned games, and being able to help spectators with directions are just a few of the things I enjoy doing the most while volunteering at this event. The energy at USA CUP is irreplaceable... there’s an evident excitement the entire duration of the tournament that just makes it really enjoyable to be a part of!"

I would have to say the overall excitement that is USA CUP is what brought me back this year. I have spent many hours as a parent watching my son play, and having the opportunity to help teams and fans navigate this event seems like the next likely step." ​

"I enjoy being active doing a job that is important and seeing long time friends - both officials and staff. One experience that sticks in my mind is years ago, the center was missing an AR who was delayed. I had my relief and was ready to go. He said the teams hated each other and no parent would volunteer. I said I would hold the flag and be a temp AR until the real one got there. He really appreciated that, and I really was thankful to have the experience. I got to spend 4 hours in radio ops last year and will spend another 4 hours this year. This will be my 28th volunteer year."

"The USA cup is a wonderful tournament that I look forward to each year. Where else in the world could I have three people from China, two from the UK, one from Indonesia and one from Madagascar to converse with all at the same time? It's amazing when you consider that. I have made many friends from different countries and look forward to seeing them return each year at the Cup. I always bring treats for the refs so they tend to look me up for some conversation, to give me a hard time and to see what I might have in the way of treats."
