The National Sports Center hosts Next Level Hockey Camp each summer, intended to elevate children’s hockey skills. These weeklong camps run from June to August and offer an action-packed, all-day training experience designed for passionate athletes ages 8 through 12.
Next Level Camp is coached by collegiate athletes and coaches from Bethel University and UW River Falls. They work with the kids, spending 8 to 10 hours a week on the ice.
Along with 0n-ice training, young athletes spend around eight hours a week participating in dryland training, field trips, and activities such as golfing and events hosted by the National Sports Center Interns.
Athletes participating in Week 2 of Next Level Camp experienced a campus scavenger hunt that took groups throughout campus to find hidden clues. Some locations included Victory Links Golf Course, NSC Super Rink, NSC Sports Expo, and other interactive spots on campus. The scavenger hunt challenged these young athletes to build communication and problem-solving skills.
Athletes in Week 3 participated in the Next Level Olympics. Games included balloon pop, tug of war, relay races, frisbee throw, steal the bacon, and many more. These games combined team-building exercises and physical strength training.
The kids ended the Next Level Olympics with a game of World Cup. Divided into two teams, team ‘Argentina’ and team ‘Ecuador’, to compete in a half field soccer game. Each team was tasked with calling out their team’s name prior to scoring the goal. The team with the most points after ten minutes was crowned champion. The kids cheered each other on as they passed and shot at the net.
Together, the camp has built the foundation for unforgettable experiences, newly learned skills, and lasting friendships. The National Sports Center thanks all athletes who participated from Week 1 through Week 3 and we are excited to welcome athletes for Week 4 through Week 9 to campus in the upcoming weeks.
