The Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission (MASC) is eager to announce that applications are now available for the 2021 Skate Park Grant Program. Funded by the 2020 state bonding bill, the new matching grant program will provide opportunity for Minnesota communities to build, improve and update skate parks.
As an intergenerational community asset, skate parks provide access for participants of all ages to be physically active in a space that encourages creativity and socialization. The new grant program will support expanded recreational skating opportunities as the sport sees growing participation and interest in the state and across the globe. Skate parks and skateboarding are gaining attention as the sport will make its first Olympic appearance at the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
The State of Minnesota has allocated $250,000 for the first installment of the Skate Park Grant Program.
Communities may be awarded up to $125,000 and must have a minimum one-to-one dollar match from non-state sources.
