The East York Soccer Club is a community-based, registered non-profit club that has offered soccer to children in and around the East end area of Toronto, Canada since 1977 and, is a well known and recognized Club throughout the Province of Ontario. The club’s central purposes are to improve the quality of the soccer program being offered to all its players and to expand the number of children who can participate in soccer in its community and the Province.
The EYSC Rep/Elite Program is focused on player development. The program is striving to create a solid learning experience by eliminating the “must win” attitude placed on the player and team. At the East York Soccer Club, the first and most important contribution to the club is development. The sport of soccer keeps evolving and so does the club. Through the club’s unique programs in the areas of player development, players are able to advance their awareness, skills and knowledge of the game.
The East York Soccer Club is proud to be represented at the 2019 Schwan’s USA Cup by two teams: 2006 Girls and 2005 Boys. Both teams are under the coaching and guidance of the club’s Technical Director Theo Zagar, a former professional and Canadian National Player. Both teams have been promoted to participate in the Regional League in Ontario (CSL) this 2019 summer season.
Each team is practicing two times per week during the indoor season with different technical and tactical coaches, along with participating in an Indoor League. The 2006 Girls sit at the top of the standings with a 7 wins – 0 losses record and has the best defense in the league, having only allowed one goal. The 2005 Boys last Outdoor season finished with the top ranked offence with 85 goals in 16 games.
The teams will continue to work hard in the months leading up to prepare for USA CUP with practices, league games and tournaments. The players of both teams are very excited about the opportunity to participate in such a world renowned tournament. Playing in USA CUP will be an experience that they can cherish for a lifetime.
