The National Sports Center (NSC) is proud to announce that all artificial turf construction has been completed on fields 48 and 49 in front of the Welcome Center and next to Centerview Elementary School. Spring Lake Park (SLP) and Andover were the first teams to play on the new turf on Thursday, Sept. 19.
The new turf fields feature LED lights and were made possible through the partnership between the NSC and SLP Schools.
NSC Foundation Executive Director Todd Johnson wanted to collaborate with Spring Lake Park Schools to improve turf conditions on the NSC and Centerview Elementary campuses.
“This partnership with Spring Lake Park Schools has allowed us the opportunity to add two additional full-sized turf fields on our campus,” Johnson said. “This brings us closer to our goal of improving the overall field quality here at the National Sports Center through a purposeful rest and rotation strategy.”
Spring Lake Park Schools Superintendent Jeff Ronneberg is equally as excited about the partnership and completion of the artificial turf.
“We are excited about the opening of our athletic turf complex at Centerview, made possible through a partnership with the National Sports Center,” Ronneberg said. “Our student-athletes now have a high quality playing surface that provides a consistent practice and game location that they have never had before.”
The School District will have priority use of the fields during the school day and during normal after-school hours. The NSC will take over usage during the evening, on weekends and during large tournaments, including USA CUP.
