In the land of 10,000 lakes, hockey ranks as the second most abundant resource. Skating is as much a favorite pastime as it is a cultural custom in Minnesota. The National Sports Center is thrilled to jump back into that tradition with the comeback of three legendary adult hockey tournaments: Luck O’the Puck, Walleye Chop and Red Solo Cup.
Luck O’the Puck – March 11-13, 2022
First on the docket is Luck O’the Puck, setting us up for a year of good fortune. The tournament offers a range of both men’s and women’s divisions and awards for each division champion. Taking place the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day, your game just might be touched with some Irish luck. May the ice rise up to meet you and the wind be at your back. Sláinte!
Walleye Chop – May 13-15, 2022
Dubbed “The Stanley Cup of Adult Hockey,” Walleye Chop gives new life to the standard adult hockey tournament. The event’s title pays homage to its overlap with the Minnesota walleye fishing opener, and off-the-ice activities celebrate the kick-off of fishing season. Between the annual fish-fry, minnow races and competitive tailgating, Walleye Chop creates action-packed experiences inside the rink and out in the parking lot.
The tournament’s divisions run the gamut, from former collegiate to homespun players. Division champions walk away with tournament trophies, which have grown into a Walleye Chop staple.
Red Solo Hockey Cup – October 2022
Red Solo Hockey Cup rounds out our year of adult hockey tournaments with blue-ribbon competition, barbecue, and brews. Players receive three free beers, VIP access to cornhole and beer pong and a four-game guarantee to boot. The tournament caters to fun for the whole family with an outdoor cookout.
Whether you were born in a pair of laced up skates or your buddies had an extra stick and recruited you, there’s a place for you in adult hockey. Adult tournaments at the NSC Super Rink encourage making memories on and off the ice. We can’t wait to celebrate our comeback with you.
